...UNEC has decided. Yesterday, students of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus came out in their number to elect members of the SUG Executive and Legislative Council in an election conducted biometrically. The election which started at about 9 am , finished at about 7pm with announcement of result following immediately.
Students showed patience and resilence by standing under the schorching sun to vote their fabfavor candidate(s)
The election was not void of controversies.
Confrontation between Students and Security official caused a stir until calm was restored. Also inability of students to vote due one reason or the other did not go down well with some stakeholders. Generally, the election was peaceful, free and fair.
Comrade Ugwuja Obinna Henry (Onowu 1) of the Department of Radiography was the man of the day, as he defeats Okwor Maranatha and Nwokocha Victory (Starniez) with a very wide margin to emerge President, Students Union Government, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.
Four out of the Nine Executive positions were contested, leaving the other five (5) unopposed.
